Dear all students and members,

The reason for this is because we need more functionality on our website. With the new website, we hope we will be able to reach out to you guys better.

So now, let us introduce our new website:

[GDC] MMU Closed DOTA Tournament Report

Posted by mmugdc on August 28, 2008

The long awaited MMU Closed Tournament has successfully ended on Saturday! Thanks to the organizing committees that brought a wonderful time to the participants!!

The DOTA tournament had 13 groups competing, started at 10am sharp. Everyone came for the same purpose: matching their playing skills with others.

The event went on in 2 rooms: FITAR1001 and FITAR1003.

Some gamers brought their own ‘fighting weapons’—their own keyboard, mouse, mousepad and themselves, of coz! 😛

The winners sat there to wait for the next opponent, while some of them were still discussing about their last game to sharpen their skills and strategies.

The gamers carried on after their lunch (supposed to play better with full tummy, I guess, hehe).

Finally after many exciting and magnificent games, we have the champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up. They are SS, Makanan, and Food! (what’s the difference between ‘makanan’ and ‘food’ btw?? Lolz)

Champion: SS

1st Runner-up: Makanan

2nd Runner-up: Food

The event ended with a prize giving ceremony and everyone was satisfied. But for the losers, don’t give up and sharpen your skills for next year!

Disconnections:
• Teams are persuaded to save their games frequently during a match in order to compensate for disconnects.

• Disconnect before a hero has been killed: match restart.

• Disconnect after a hero has been killed: If a savegame has been made within the last 15 minutes, then consult the rule below. If not then the game continues without the disconnected player.

• If team 1 have killed 5+ heroes more than team 2 during the period of the last save game and the disconnection, then the disconnect is in the favour of team 1. For example:
– At the time of the save game the score is 35-35
– At the time of the disconnection the score is 42-37 for team 1
– Since team 1 have killed 5+ heroes more than team 2, team 1 may now chose whether to continue the match or remake from the save game.
– An Aegis counts for 1 kill .
– A tower counts for 3 kills when calculating this, down.
– A rax counts for 5 kills.

• The teams must save game right after first blood

• If neither team is in advantage then an admin should be consulted, unless teams can agree to a decision by themselves.

• After a remake all players have to pick the same heroes as before, buys the same items and must go to the same starting lane. On initial creep contact, the players may change lane.

• If the team disconnects more than 3 times, then the opposing team may chose to continue the match without the dropped player.

• It is allowed to use a disconnected hero, but it is not allowed to give his items to other players or buy any item for the hero. His Item should be remained on himself only.

[GDC] Promotion Week Report #1

Posted by mmugdc on August 5, 2008

The promotion week is over which started on the 28th of July, Monday and finished on Thursday. The booth was promoting the card and board games that we had and also promoting the event that is coming soon which is the Dota and CS Closed tourney. The week at the booth was totally fun, we managed to pull lots of people to play the games and some even bought the cards to add into their collection.

Bored at the booth? That’s not gonna happen in GDC 🙂

For starters, the board games were a hit; the Blockus game was constantly being pulled away to the other booths for them to enjoy the game. Some members even brought their own board games to have fun with us. We even have a Devil May Cry 4 “showcase” (or just something similar to that =P)

For all that’s worth, the booth was a success in letting many know about the club’s activities and hopefully after the sem break, they would join us in our card and board games gathering!!
